Tips and Tricks. How to take care of yourself between appointments:

Manual therapies like Massage, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, and Athletic Therapy are a great way to take care of your body and to relieve pain, but unfortunately we can’t have appointments every single day.

Here are some great tips to help you stay healthy and well until your next treatment.

Staying hydrated consistently, especially in Calgary, will help your blood circulation throughout your body. While blood is always moving, sometimes areas of pain or dysfunction can trap stagnant blood, which doesn’t allow new blood with healing white blood cells to arrive and do its job.

Stretching is a great way to keep added mobility in your muscles and joints, and many practitioners give our clients “home care” exercises to help them with this. Home care can be hard to do, so if you are struggling with keep up with your activities, talk to your practitioner about how to make the exercises work for you. Your practitioners want to help you feel your best, even if we start small and build up!

Pay attention to how you feel after your treatment. If there are any odd reactions or unexpected pain, make sure you remember to tell your practitioner about this the next time you see them. This isn’t a criticism, and it actually allows us to make your next treatment for you even better. We can’t fix a problem if we don’t know it is there!

Do little check ins with your body in the days and weeks following your appointment. If you could touch your toes immediately after your appointment, try to keep touching your toes every few days, to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment. This can be done using any exercise that was difficult for you to do prior to your appointment, that the treatments improved for you. It is also a way to check in on your body, for when you may need to rebook.

Booking a consult or appointment with another treatment method that your practitioner recommended! We love that our clinic is built as a one-stop-shop for all of your care needs, and we are passionate about not only what we do as individuals, but also about how our care and overlap. If your practitioner suggested that massage or acupuncture or chiro therapy would benefit you, they did so because sometimes another method of care is best for a specific job. We always recommend chatting to your practitioner about any other treatments you are interested in, so that we can all provide you the best care possible.
